Interfaith Human Services, Inc. (IHS), a registered non-profit organization in Centre County, Pennsylvania, brings together local communities of faith to address many unmet social and economic needs.  Members of these faith communities serve as the Board of Directors for IHS.

Motivated by a collective commitment to helping low-income households, IHS provides an array of services: emergency assistance for rent and mortgage costs; money management counseling and advice; help with small home repairs; emergency loans; a distribution program for donated furniture and appliances; and assistance with paying fuel and utility bills.

Comprising 22 congregations from various religious traditions, IHS, founded in 1968, has remained firmly committed to its original goal of "collaborating to help neighbors in need." To enhance its impact, IHS partners with many private and government social service providers.  Operating with a small staff of 4 full-time and 2 part-time employees and the help of many volunteers, IHS serves a Centre County population of 153,990, the poverty level of which is estimated to be 18.5%.1
